Scarlet’s Kitchen specializes in soul food cuisine: the kind that makes you think of shaded porches, warm breezes, and the voices of loved ones on a summer day. They wanted a site that reflected this honest simplicity, and ease of use for their customers was key to their design request.

The home page introduces Scarlet’s Kitchen: who they are and what they do. True to form, the design centered around a warm color palette and complementary photographs, recalling a rich scarlet hue and evoking the familiarity of a home’s kitchen.

To reinforce the simplicity and ease of use of the site, the navigation was kept as simple and straight-forward as possible. The menu items were categorized and kept visible on the menu page, as shown on the left, with a list of Scarlet’s Kitchen delectables and their prices.

To let their clients contact them easily, we designed a contact form for Scarlet’s Kitchen that is always accessible from the main, or top-level, navigation. We helped Scarlet’s Kitchen plan their navigation to better serve their clients and their purposes for the site.
